The Public Relations (PR) Cell of IIM Shillong acts as the interface between the institute and external entities such as corporates, media and other business schools. It aims at creating, fostering and managing professional relations with each of these entities.
The PR Cell organizes and conducts:
The “Podium” series, an annual corporate lecture series at the Institute in association with the Placement Committee. The past editions have featured corporates from various established companies like Aditya Birla Group, LinkedIn, Microsoft, OnePlus, Volvo and Wipro
Video conferencing sessions under the “Synergy” series to interact with corporates worldwide representing various business domains. The featured speakers include renowned companies such as Crisil Ltd, Informatica, Motilal Oswal, and Zee5 Global
Workshops for the upskilling of PGP Participants that are conducted by industry experts. The Digital marketing workshop and the Personal Finance workshop organized by the PR Cell across previous academic years had an overwhelming response
‘Nexus’, an annual meet for the incumbent students in collaboration with the Alumni Committee.
Working closely with the Student Council, the PR Cell also facilitates the induction of the incoming batch every year.
TEDxIIMShillong, an independently organized TED event to establish a connect with people from various fields and spread new ideas and thoughts. The event has featured prominent speakers from various domains like Mr Praveen Thipsay, Indian chess grandmaster, Ms Anamika Khanna, a revered fashion designer and Ms Pankaj Bhadouria, the first winner of India’s Masterchef Series, among others. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation recognized an early edition of the TEDxIIMShillong as a top TEDx event in emerging economies.
The PR Cell provides guidance and mentorship to MBA aspirants seeking admission to IIM Shillong on popular forums like PaGaLGuY and MBAUniverse.com. It also manages the operations of the social media handles of the Institute like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. It also aids in publishing articles on prominent forums such as InsideIIM as well as local and national publications.
