The 13th edition of EmergE, hosted by the Indian Institute of Management Shillong on October 14th and 15th, showcased a vibrant exhibition of innovation and entrepreneurship. IIM Shillong’s Entrepreneurship Cell organized the annual summit, bringing stakeholders together to strengthen Northeast India’s startup ecosystem. Themed “Envisioning India at 100, Empowering Innovation and Growth,” the inaugural session featured notable speakers like Shri PVSLN Murty, Chairman of Northeastern Development Finance Corporation. Director Professor D P Goyal reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering indigenous businesses. In his thought leadership talk, Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship underscored the importance of inclusive growth, emphasizing the role of small-scale businesses and women entrepreneurs in socio-economic development. Panel discussions delved into sustainable startup revenue models, highlighting fiscal prudence and strategic planning. The summit hosted 35 startups, showcasing innovative ventures, fostering connections, and marking a milestone in strengthening the region’s startup landscape.
