The “Nurturing Minds” initiative by IIM Shillong is an educational outreach program launched by the institute during the academic year 2015-16. This unique initiative was established in memory of the revered Bharat Ratna Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, with the aim of honoring his vision of “Education for All.”
The program officially began on October 17, 2015, and has since become an integral part of IIM Shillong’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
One of the primary objectives of the initiative is to establish a strong connection with the local community. The Nurturing Minds initiative focuses on local schools, serving as partners in this endeavor, allowing IIM Shillong students to directly impact the education of local students.
This connection goes beyond the academic realm and serves as a way for the institute to give back to society. It strives to help school students develop a genuine interest in academics, laying a strong foundation that can serve as a platform for further academic growth. It exemplifies the emphasis IIM Shillong places on producing good human beings and aiding in holistic development, particularly of those from under privileged and economically backward families in society.
