OCU - River Cleaning

IIM Shillong, in collaboration with the NGO Operation Clean-Up, organized a successful Umkaliar River Cleaning Drive, led by the Centre for Community Impact and Engagement for NE (NE-CCIE) and Ecobiz, the institute’s sustainability club. The initiative saw active participation from students and faculty, who worked together to remove pollutants and restore the riverbank’s natural beauty. This effort not only addressed critical environmental concerns but also fostered meaningful interaction with the local community. The event highlighted IIM Shillong’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, setting a strong foundation for future eco-friendly initiatives.

OCU - Plantation Drive

IIM Shillong, in collaboration with Operation Clean-Up, organized a successful tree plantation drive aimed at promoting environmental sustainability on campus. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, with a variety of fruit saplings such as oranges, plums, and peaches being planted. Led by the Centre for Community Impact and Engagement for NE (NE-CCIE) and Ecobiz, the sustainability club, the initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to fostering ecological responsibility. This drive serves as a step towards creating a greener campus and enhancing community engagement. IIM Shillong remains dedicated to integrating sustainability into its institutional ethos.

MOU

IIM Shillong, in collaboration with the Meghalaya government, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to organize a series of business plan competitions for college students across the state. This initiative aims to foster entrepreneurial skills and provide funding support to the top qualifying start-ups. Addressing the gathering, Director Prof. DP Goyal emphasized IIM Shillong’s commitment to contributing to Meghalaya’s economic growth through strategic partnerships. The event was graced by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who highlighted the importance of leadership and knowledge-based economies. The competition, led by Prof. Teidor Lyngdoh, will run from July to September.

I-week Fest- Behdienkhlam Festival

IIM Shillong, in collaboration with Meghalaya Tourism, recently hosted International Week, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage. The week-long event included visits to iconic sites such as Tyrshi Falls and immersive experiences in the Behdienkhlam Festival, where students engaged in traditional rituals and festivities. The journey also included learning about the historical significance of monoliths in Shillong. This event fostered cross-cultural understanding and strengthened global connections among participants. International Week showcased the importance of cultural exchange in an increasingly interconnected world.

Cooking Event during I week

During International Week, participants were treated to a memorable culinary experience at Dial Muktieh Ramew Café (Nesfas) in Khweng, Meghalaya. The event celebrated the rich, diverse flavors of local cuisine, offering students a unique cultural exchange. Highlights included a cooking demonstration featuring traditional dishes like sticky rice cooked in a bottle gourd and bamboo-steamed vegetables. Fresh local produce was showcased through a delectable fish dish, curry, and tangy pickle. To conclude, students enjoyed a fruit wine-tasting session, savoring locally made wines. This immersive experience deepened the international students’ appreciation of Meghalaya’s vibrant culinary heritage.
